Looking for a bespoke restaurant experience with secluded river views?
Peats Bite is an exclusive water access only restaurant situated on the beautiful Hawkesbury River approximately one hour north of Sydney.
This well kept secret has been in operation since 1982, in which time it has become renowned for its luncheons and fine wine, food and entertainment. The open indoor/outdoor layout suits the Australian climate and promotes the friendly nature of the restaurant which exudes an incredibly relaxed, unpretentious vibe, with guests intermingling and chatting. Peats Bite offers great food, good company and music – the perfect place for the quintessential long lunch.
Founders Tammy Miljoen and her late husband Rod have created an icon. Now owned by Tammy’s daughter Tanya Miljoen and Geoff Milner, the isolated restaurant is regularly visited by celebrity guests, has hosted too many weddings to remember and even offers overnight stays in six studio rooms.
This is a unique venue that has relaxed tropical gardens right to the waters edge and an uninterrupted backdrop of untouched bushland around the Hawkesbury River. It is simply a stunning location. Bring your togs, you may even choose to swim in the riverside pool.
One way to arrive is by air, the restaurant’s pontoon caters for seaplanes and the odd helicopter arrival however most visitors arrive by boat. There’s a few stern-to berths for those with boats under 20 metres on the venue’s pontoon but good holding for others anchoring off in larger vessels.
