Head turner

Maori Yacht 52, New South Wales

Exhibiting an 'Axe' bow, very striking lines with deck flare and a change in the hard top angle that plays with the back of the deck house as if it is curved by the wind; the engine long and horizontal exhaust pipes remind the scramblers’ silencers – Steve McQueen’s favourite motorbike.

This project, developed by Ken Freigvokh Design and Marco Ciampa, has been highly regarded as a successful collaboration. The main deck has several areas dedicated to sunbathing or relaxation. There is also a day cabin below which can be turned into a dinette to escape the heat.

Maori 52 yacht is powered by twin Diesel 560 FPT engines, fitted with Jollydrive surface propellers – similar to Arneson. She reaches an impressive maximum speed of 45 knots, with a cruising speed of 40 knots. Her diesel capacity is of 1,000 litres, featuring two 500-litre tanks. The Maori 52 has a total consumption of about 180 litres per hour.
